Terms of Service

How To Book Your Tour
To reserve a place on a Rediscover Travel Inc. (Rediscover Tours) tour you need to fill out, sign, and mail us the completed Tour Registration Form. We require a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total costs of your tour at least 60 days before the first day of the tour. The deposit can be paid by Most Major Credit Cards, Bank Wire or Check. Once we have received your payment we will send you a receipt. Final payment is due 45 days before the first day of the tour. In case of billing errors, we reserve the right to re-invoice with the correct pricing. Your signed registration form must be received by Rediscover Tours within 2 weeks of paying your deposit. If we do not receive your signed registration form then we will assume you are canceling your tour and will apply the normal cancellation policy as detailed below.

Group tours are guaranteed once the tour has reached its minimum number of participants as detailed on the tour’s webpage. Private tours are guaranteed once the deposit has been paid and your signed registration form has been received.

Tour Canceled by Travelers
Your deposit is non-refundable and not transferable. All cancellations must be sent in writing or by e-mail and will be effective upon acknowledgment by Rediscover Travel Inc. We will then send you an email confirming your cancellation which you should keep as proof of cancellation. If you do not receive a cancellation notice from us, please make sure to contact Rediscover Travel Inc. again as your reservation has not been canceled. Your 20% deposit is non-refundable or not transferable and thereafter the following fees apply:

Tour Price Does Not Include
Airline Tickets; Federal Inspection Fees for the U.S. Customs and Immigration; International Air Transportation Tax; agricultural tax; Value Added Taxes, any other taxes; security fee; airport taxes and fees; foreign port taxes, passports; visas and vaccinations; telephone; portage at airports; transportation expenses incurred during free times; insurance, items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mini bar (or any other alcoholic beverages), mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than what is provided at the ryokans or hotels during included meals. Anything not specifically detailed in your tour itinerary quote. Only items specifically detailed in your itinerary are included in the tour price.

Currency Changes
All prices quoted are based on current exchange rates and are subject to change. If the U.S. dollar devalues by 5% from the local currency or more, Rediscover Travel Inc. reserves the right to increase prices accordingly. Rediscover Travel Inc. only accepts payments in US Dollars.

Late Payment
If there is an outstanding balance by the Final Payment Due Date listed on your invoice, Rediscover Travel Inc. reserves the right to immediately terminate and cancel all travel services without refund. A service reinstatement fee of US $50 will be added to your invoice and must be paid in advance in order to apply for reconfirmation of services.

Returned Checks
There is a US $50 fee for returned checks.

Tours Postponed by Rediscover Travel Inc.
Rediscover Travel Inc. reserves the right to postpone a tour for any reason, including but not limited to: acts of international terrorism, natural disasters, travel restrictions imposed by any government authority, and other unforeseen dire circumstances. In the unlikely event, your tour is canceled, the entire amount you have paid including your deposit to Rediscover Travel Inc. will be applied to a future tour.

Tour Itineraries Flexibility
Tour itineraries are subject to change. We need to be flexible enough to take advantage of any changes in the Japan travel environment so we may provide you with the best possible tour. Occasionally, during holidays and certain periods, due to unforeseen circumstances the local Tour Operator and/or Hotel, (or similar accommodation such as Ryokans, Minshukus, Temples, Home Stays, etc.) may have to make last-minute changes, sometimes after arrival, in the sequence of the tour and/or hotels. Sometimes attractions close with no advanced warning. On dates including, but not limited to religious holidays and national celebrations, some monuments and sites may also be closed. We, therefore, reserve the right to adjust the sequence and/or substitute any accommodation or attraction with others of a similar category. Also, due to changing weather conditions and other acts of nature, the local Tour Operator may have to make last-minute changes, sometimes after arrival. We, therefore, reserve the right to adjust the sequence and/or substitute any activity with others of a similar category. In these cases, Rediscover Travel Inc. will make its best effort to replace that attraction with another suitable and comparable replacement. Uncompleted portions of the tour itinerary are not cause for a refund. For custom-made tours, we cannot accept major changes after the deposit has been paid or minor changes from fourteen days prior to the start of the tour.

Guest Information
Guests are responsible to ensure that Rediscover Travel Inc. has the correctly spelled full name, address, email, and for all guests. Names printed on the invoice must exactly match the full name in their passport. Rediscover Travel Inc. will not be responsible for passengers who do not receive an invoice or documents due to inaccurate information. Any special requirements including special meals, and medical conditions must be communicated to Rediscover Travel Inc. prior to being added to the tour. We will inform you if your request can or cannot be met at that time and any additional charges that may be levied.

JR Rail Pass
Many of our tours include a JR Rail Pass that is used for transportation. To use this pass you will need to enter Japan as a tourist with a tourist visa. The name on your JR Rail Pass Exchange Order must exactly match the name in your passport. For more details on the JR Rail Pass eligibility please see https://japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html#anchor02. You must be eligible for the JR Rail Pass to take our tours as listed.

Pocket WIFI Device
Some of our tours include a pocket WIFI device. Your airport pick-up will hand you the device along with the replacement costs for damaged or lost items. You are responsible for sending the payment to the WIFI rental company including any bank fees.

One Contact for Each Group
To avoid double bookings, please make sure there is only one person contacting Rediscover Travel Inc. If more than one person from a group starts contacting Rediscover Travel Inc., then this could lead to serious reservation errors. Each Tour Contract is to be regarded as one contracted by or on behalf of the particular person named on it.

Group Harmony
To ensure the desired group harmony, Rediscover Travel Inc. reserves the right to accept, reject or expel any tour participant who is deemed disruptive or incompatible with the interests of the group. All expenses to do so will be borne by the individual. Rediscover Travel Inc. reserves the right to make changes in the itinerary whenever it deems it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of the tour participants.

Travelers Who Need Special Assistance
Rediscover Travel Inc. will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of travelers, but it is not responsible in the event it is unable to do so, nor is it responsible for any denial of services by carriers, hotels, restaurants, transportation or other independent suppliers. Be aware that outside the United States, facilities for disabled individuals are limited. We regret that we cannot provide individual physical assistance to a tour participant for walking, dining, getting on and off trains and other vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who need such assistance. Any physical (including allergies), mental, or emotional disability that may require attention or treatment must be reported in writing prior to paying your deposit.

Physically Demanding Tour
Rediscover Travel Inc. tours are physically demanding: You will be doing a lot of walking and standing during sightseeing. While your luggage will sometimes be in transit during the tour, you will also find yourself taking your luggage on the trains, buses and/or ferries. Because public transportation is not always convenient, there may be times when you will have to walk up to 10 minutes with your luggage. Roller boards work fine in Japan, but there may be times when you will have to carry your luggage up and downstairs. Because of these reasons, only those who are in good health (no heart or back problems) should consider our tours. On our walking tours, you may need to walk long distances with your luggage and must-have luggage that is suitable for hiking.

Young Travelers
Travelers less than 18 years old on the tour departure dates must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Smoking
Rediscover Travel Inc. will try to accommodate your request for a smoking or non-smoking room. However, smoking is common in Japan and we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate your request.

Passports and Visas
You are responsible for obtaining your passport, and for meeting all health and other requirements required by Japanese laws, orders, and/or requirements. You must consult with the appropriate consulates to determine if any visas or other conditions are needed. All travelers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your entry into Japan.

Acting Only as Agents
Rediscover Travel Inc. and its representatives abroad act only as agents for contractors providing the means of transportation, accommodations, and other services pertaining to the tour. All exchange orders, coupons, and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which such means of transportation, accommodations, and other services are offered or provided. The issuance and acceptance of such documents shall be deemed to be consent to the further conditions. Rediscover Travel Inc. and/or travel agent /tour operator shall not be in any way liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity in any vehicle, or through the act of default of any company, or person, engaged in conveying the passengers, or of any hotel proprietor, personnel, or any other person otherwise in connection therewith.

Not Held Responsible for Risks
Rediscover Travel Inc. and/or travel agent/tour operator shall not be held responsible for potential risks and hazards associated with travel to destinations included in this program /itinerary, where injury, delay, or unanticipated events may occur. The tour participant agrees that neither Rediscover Travel Inc. nor its affiliates shall be liable for any damage, loss (including personal injury, death, and property loss), or expense occasioned by any act or omission of any supplier providing tour services. Rediscover Travel Inc. and/or its travel agents/tour operators shall be held harmless from any and all liability in connection with the foregoing.

Not Held Responsible for Loss, Additional Expenses
Rediscover Travel Inc. and/or its travel agents/tour operators cannot accept the responsibility for loss or additional expenses due to delay or changes in transportation schedule or other causes.

Legal Domicile
This agreement and the terms and conditions hereunder shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Michigan, in the United States of America. All participants agree to be bound by such laws and subject to the jurisdiction of the Michigan legal system.

Use of Rediscover Travel Inc’s Website
This website (RediscoverTours.com) and the information content provided herein are granted for use to you, the customer, expressly conditioned on the acceptance of the following terms and conditions. By using this website you agree to be bound by the terms, conditions, and notices that follow without modification herein, under a grant of a limited, non-transferable license to use this website in accordance with this User Agreement. The materials and information in the Rediscover Travel Inc. web pages are provided free of charge for general information purposes only. Rediscover Travel Inc. makes no warranty of any kind, either express or implied. By using any information on these pages, you are deemed to agree not to hold Rediscover Travel Inc. liable for the consequence of any actions, which you may make on the basis of the information contained on this website.
