Today is your second full day in Rusutsu village. Enjoy powder snow, great views of Mount Yotei and a hot spring bath in the evening. Dinner is included.
After breakfast in Rusustu you will take a bus to reach the other famous Japanese ski resort: Niseko where you will stay 4 nights. Dinner and breakfast are included for each night.
Ski or Snowboard, have fun in Niseko !
Enjoy Niseko at your ease nestled between Annupuri and Grand Hirafu.
This is your last full day in Niseko; the largest ski resort in Hokkaido Japan. Niseko is famous worldwide for its powder snow with an average snow fall of over 14 meters and has some of the driest and lightest snow in the world with the season running from December to April.
Today after breakfast in Niseko you will first send your ski or snowboards to New Chitose Airport. This way you will have less luggage for the rest of your tour. Then you will travel to Noboribetsu famous for its hot spring baths by bus. Noboribetsu is located in southwestern Hokkaido in Shikotsu-Toya National Park. Noboribetsu is a name from the local Ainu language which means “a cloudy river tinged with white.” This name refers to the large sulfur deposits in the area. Noboribetsu is one of Hokkaido’s best known (and most commercially developed) hot spring areas, and it is basically a one street village with hot spring hotels on both sides.
Today you will have a full day to explore Noboribetsu at your ease. Visitors to Noboribetsu can experience the hot spring waters at the town’s famous Daiichi Takimotokan hotel which has 20 different hot spring baths. The source of the village’s hot spring water is the “Jigoku-dani” (Hell) valley. Jigoku-dani is a steaming, lunar-like valley which produces 10,000 tons of hot spring water a day. From Jigoku-dani, visitors can walk to nearby Oyunuma which is a hot water lake producing large clouds of steam. Dinner is included so make sure to be back to your accommodation on time.
After breakfast in Noboribetsu you will head to Sapporo by bus. The largest city in Hokkaido and the prefectural capital, Sapporo is famous for its Yuki Matsuri, or Snow Festival in early February. Prior to the annexation of Hokkaido by the Japanese government in the 19th century, the area Sapporo now occupies was settled by the Ainu, the original peoples of Hokkaido. Sapporo is a popular spot for those looking to enjoy good beer, tasty food (including ramen and seafood), and relaxing hot spring baths. It also offers an escape from the sweltering summer heat because of its relatively moderate July and August temperatures compared with the rest of Japan. Sapporo was home to the original headquarters of the Sapporo Beer company, now located in Tokyo, and also hosted the Winter Olympics in 1972.
Day trip to Otaru
From Sapporo an excellent side trip is to travel to Otaru. Originally a fishing village was established here during the Edo Period (1603 to 1868) as an outpost of the Wajinchi district administered from the castle town of Matsumae. It is surrounded on three sides by mountains, while the fourth faces Ishikari Bay.
Today is the last day of the tour. You will fly home with memories that you will keep for the rest of your life. Please make sure you arrive at New Chitose International Airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight.
