Akihabara
Akihabara in Tokyo is known as the capital of Anime and Manga. Locally known as Akiba after a former local shrine, is a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops. In more recent years, Akihabara has gained recognition as the center of Japan’s otaku (diehard fan) culture, and many shops and establishments devoted to anime and manga are now dispersed among the electronic stores in the district. On Sundays afternoon, Chuo Dori, the main street through the district, is closed to car traffic.

Pokémon Cafes and Centers
Enjoy original cute sweets, meals and drinks in a stylish cafe. In the past diners were seated on a first come first served basis but this may be changing. Please ask your Japan travel expert. Pokémon Cafes are located in Osaka and Tokyo.

Pokémon Centers are shops dedicated to Pokémon goods. Entry is free and you can spend hours exploring and finding new Pokémon goods to purchase and bring home with you. Share an unforgettable time surrounded by your favorite Pokémon! Pokémon Centers can be found all over Japan including Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Tokyo.

Cat Cafes
Cat Cafes (Neko Cafe) are a type of coffee shop where customers can play with cats (there are also owl, snake, hedgehog and other animal cafes) that roam freely around the establishment. Cat cafes can be found in most major cities, they are often not located at street level but on higher floors in multi-story buildings and not always easy to find. With pet ownership in the city difficult due to small living quarters, strict rental agreements and busy lifestyles, such cafes are popular with locals as well as overseas visitors who love the company of cats. Note that most places restrict entry to visitors above the age of 13. Let your Japan travel expert know that you want to add this to your tour.
