teamLab Museums

When you think of visiting an art museum, the first image that may come to your mind might be walking around galleries of famous artists’ paintings or sculptures. And you would be right unless you’re visiting one of the teamLab museums. teamLab is an art collective comprised of multiple disciplines artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects. They work together to create an immersive realm with their three-dimensional digital art exhibits. These installations can range from a mirrored room of infinite crystal stars. to walking in an otherworldly sea of ethereal lights and digital koi.

Locations

teamLab has two locations in Tokyo that are extremely popular with tourists and residents alike. There’s teamLab Borderless located in the Azabudai Hills area and teamLab Planets located in the Toyosu area. While both provide their own incredible, breathtaking experiences, they have their differences. A portion of teamLab Planets requires walking in water as it has the digital koi exhibit, while teamLab Borderless has more interactive elements in its installations. We recommend you take a look at each museum and determine which exhibits you would like to visit.

Either teamLab museum will take 2 to 4 hours to explore.
